Daddy's Little Girl?

Everyone knows that Iain surfs. Now that he is off for the summer he actually surfs just about every morning. It is his passion and has been for 25+ years. When we started having kids, we would joke that if just one of them would surf, he'd be happy. Father/son or daughter surf sessions would be a dream come true.

Well our sweet little kiddos seem to have found other passions. I guess maybe they haven't found their own quite yet, just decided that it will not be surfing. Iain T likes to surf but doesn't love it. He will surf a bit, boogie board or body surf, but them it's home to play baseball! Of course he may still change his mind (he does have plenty of time). He even says that surfing is fun, but it's just ok. Sean on the other hand likes it even less. He's not a big water guy. He likes boogie boarding but in general doesn't love the water, not even swimming pools. I think it has to do with all the ear issues the sweet boy has had. Too many water restrictions early on.

That leads us to this...

Scraping wax off

Sara seems interested in surfing. She is a daredevil, loves water and doesn't mind water on her face...it's looking hopeful!! Iain does have firm requirements to when the kids can surf, and obviously she is too young to meet them. She is water safe in a pool but has a bit to go before she is ocean safe. In the meantime she can help Iain wax his board and cheer him on!

**Iain will be ok if turns out that none of the kids share his love of surfing. They will just enjoy other activities together.**

She

She has a zest for life like no other.
She loves clothes, especially dresses and changes outfits three+ times everyday.
She loves to practice letters and sounds.
She does not like having her hair brushed.
She is a collector of STUFF, any little toy or trinket she can get her hands on is saved in a special place.
She takes a purse filled with stuff EVERYWHERE she goes.
She attracts people where ever she goes but doesn't know what to do with that trait yet.
She wants to be a princess when she grows up.
She would choose to be by my side all day if I let her.
She calls me her Best Buddy!
She loves to dance and sing, she makes up full dances but doesn't want to join a class...yet!
She is 100% girl!
She is our amazing gift!

He

He is excited to have a birthday coming.
He has two loose teeth.
He's easy going and lets things roll off him.
He is smart as heck but doesn't want to be bothered to do anything related to school.
He has big feet.
He still sleeps with the same 'blanket' since birth and won't go to bed without it.
He has the most amazing freckles across his cheeks.
He makes friends everywhere he goes.
He doesn't have a mean bone in his body.
He doesn't understand why making his bed is necessary and makes it known daily.
He likes being a big and little brother.
He has found a new ambition and drive for sports.
He is a joy!

He

(I'm copying this from another blog. Thought it was just too cute and a take from these way back when...)

He eat, breathes and sleeps baseball, would play daily if he had the time.
He wants to be a professional baseball player or life guard when he grow up.
He is starting to act like a "big kid" more often now.
He got straight A's last semester...again.
He is messy and seems to prefer it that way!

He has a kind heart.
He gives hugs freely.
He LOVES shoes.
He wears two different color socks at a time, one white and one black.
He is excited to be a 5th grader this year, big man on campus!
He has a knack for sarcasm and a keen wit.
He runs two miles every Tuesday.
He makes us proud everyday.

Who's Happier?

This picture cracks me up. Sara's preschool emails pictures throughout the year, both for special occasions and everyday playing. I guess they just found this one because we received it yesterday, even though we are off for the summer. It may possibly be a picture only a mother could love. Not sure if it's the glue dripping off, the chubby little cheek peering out, the serious face, or maybe because the leprechaun looks happier than she does to be posing for the camera. No matter what the reason, this is one of my new favorites.
