Hamboard

About a month ago, Sean was at a Junior Guards function with Nanny and Grandad. They were putting raffle tickets into baskets when the man taking tickets noticed Sean. He offered Sean a free ticket for "not having any front teeth". Sean put his name on it and placed it in the basket in front of the prize he wanted. Well guess what, he won! If you click on the link you'll see how amazing it is. It's a 6 foot 8 inch skate board! The picture just shows the board without trucks and wheels.

The kids have been having a great time playing with it. They actually all fit at the same time! Sara hops on and just kind of cruises while they do all the work!

Monday morning blues...

This morning was a bit rough. Slow moving morning lead to a not so happy preschool drop off. It was so hard to leave Sara there when she wasn't happy about it. She loves her school, talks about it all the time, but I know she hasn't been there long enough to make any deep bonds. Leaving her there without a "comfort person" is difficult. Of course I know that she will make those bonds but sigh...this morning was hard. I actually called an hour after drop off to make sure she shook off her Monday Blues. She did, and was having a great time. Hearing that allowed me to shake off my Monday Blues!! Funny how that works!

Saturday was Sean's first soccer game. It was great to be out there cheering for him, watching him run after the ball. He has a hustle in soccer that we don't often see in Sean. For the most part he likes things but nothing really makes him passionate. This is the closest we've gotten to seeing that in him. It's wonderful to watch!

He's the one on the right in blue. His teammate looks just like him!

Ready or not, here she comes!

Her before school pose!

The boys aren't the only ones who have started school recently! My little sidekick has also ventured out into the land of teachers, new friends and fun! This past Wednesday Sara started preschool. I was so prepared for tears (mine and hers) all of it! But she proved me wrong! She woke up with a joy that is indescribable. She walked around all morning talking about how much fun it was going to be. When we took the boys to school she even told other parents walking by that she was starting school that day! The only hesitation was when I said good bye but even that was just a small pause, then she went with her teacher very willingly. She was so ready that I think it was all excitement for her! Today was her second day and again, it was lots of fun for her (and me!). I'm really enjoying a few hours to myself during the day.

Here are her sleepy faced brothers on her first day! After they got out of school that day, they ran to her and asked how her day at school was. I LOVE that they are so good to each other!

Back to school

(Yes, I have lots of catching up to do.)

After two and a half wonderful, fun filled, sun filled, beach filled months, we are back to school. I know that isn't quite the back to school welcome that it may deserve but I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to going back. The past few months ha been the best summer to date. We spent so much time playing that it was/is hard to give it up. That being said, the boys love their teachers this year (as do I). They both got the best choices for their grade levels.

Sean has a much longer school day this year as well. Our district only has a half day Kinder program so these first couple of weeks back have been quite an adjustment. He's doing a great job though! His teacher is the same one that Iain had for 1st and 2nd grades, the combo class. He loves it!

Iain has just about all his friends in his class so he was very happy to see the class list. Another new thing for us this year is that he has 2 teachers. It is a job share. One works Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday and the other the rest of the week. They are both fantastic teachers!
