Watch out Pele, here comes Iain!

After weeks of practice and anticipation, the day finally arrived. Iain's first soccer game. We've been waiting for weeks for this day, sometimes excited and at other times nervous. At practice he's really involved and gets into it. He and the other boys, all 6 years old too, have a great time together. The morning of the game he informed me that I wasn't allowed to cheer or say his name loud, it could embarrass him! I agreed even though I really didn't want too!

Right before the game the coach helped the boys get into position. Iain was center forward (I think that's what is was called, I'm not so soccer savvy) which meant he would be kicking the first kick! I stood, camera poised, snapped and got it! The game was a complete success! We didn't win but did score one goal, which was very exciting! The league actually doesn't keep score and all the kids get trophies at the end of the season. My kind of sport! I was able to keep my promise and not scream out embarrassing, proud mother remarks.

Here's a picture from after the game! Looks like he had fun huh? The little war wounds on his face are from skateboarding, not soccer!

Mover and a shaker

Just a little Sara update. Our little girl is so much fun these days. Of course she's always been fun but she's able to do so much more now. Not to mention her hair is getting longer and I'm able to play beauty shop on her!!

Here's a new hair style I've been having fun with. It's a little pulled out but you get the picture! Also a little sweet potato on her face!

Here's she is trying to climb the stairs! Yikes!

Nibbling on the boy's toys!

Nothing really profound to say, just sharing pictures! I'll be profound next time!

A surprise from Sean

Another big happening around here, Sean started his new school this week. We've been trying to prepare him for weeks. He's expressed his displeasure in the whole situation very clearly and several times. He made it clear how unfair it was that Sara gets to stay with me and he has to go to school. He also made it clear that he should be in Kindergarten at Iain's school (he isn't old enough for Kindergarten, just eager). As you can imagine I was very nervous for the first day. Would he go on his own? Would he let go of my leg long enough to go into the classroom? Would he cry? Scream? Well, let me tell you that he walked into his class, took a lap around to check things out, sat on the rug and waved good bye. Yep, that's it! No tears or no leg clinging, just Sean ready for preschool. When I picked him up he ran over and was very ready to come home but said he had a great day! Guess he just wanted to keep us on our toes!!

Here's a picture from the big day. I tried to do it tongue-less but Sean just wanted to include it!

First grade here we come!

The big day is finally here! Iain T. started first grade! This has always been seen as a magical grade for him. He would listen to stories from his Daddy's work and say things like "I can't wait for first grade" or "first grade will be the best". Now that it's here he's ready to go! I've never seen him get up and ready so quickly. He ate breakfast and was dressed an hour before we needed to leave! We arrived at school earlier than usual so he'd have plenty of time to find his classroom and play with friends. Of course the nerves set in a little when it was time to enter the class and find his desk. He looked back at me with a look of the unknown! As hard as it was for me, it is also such a fun moment! He's getting so big! I managed to keep dry eyes, but I can't say the same for Sean. He was crying, saying he was sad that he won't be able to play with Iain until after nap! So cute! I have to admit, I'm doing some pacing around this morning. Not quite sure what to do with myself. After having all three kids home with me all summer, it's a little strange that he's not here! Of course we'll all fall into a routine soon and this new schedule will be the norm. Until then, I'll just stare at the clock until I can pick up my little/big guy!

A grin made for Iain

Announcement...Iain has lost another tooth!
His two front teeth have been loose for a few months and today one finally came leaping out. Ironically enough it was the less loose of the two teeth. He was swimming, accidently bumped the wall with his mouth and out came the little bugger! He's so proud of his new smile! The other tooth is barely hanging on so I'm sure it will also be out very soon!
