Tide Pools
Yesterday we ventured out to the Tide Pools. The boys had a great time walking out on the rocks and watching all the sea life. They were so excited each time they saw something crawling or swimming in one of the pools. Sara and I stayed back on the beach collecting and re-arranging any and all seaweed we could find. (The rocks were a bit slippery for her!)
As we were looking in one of the pools, a shell started to crawl away! The look on Sara's face was hilarious! She started yelling "shell moving, shell moving" over and over. After a quick explanation about hermit crabs she seemed at ease.

Camping pics
Spring Break 2008!!! Woo hoo! Oh' how times have changed!!
We had a blast this past week. We spent 4 days camping in San Elijo. It was our first time at this particular campground, it was beautiful! We were on a bluff overlooking the ocean. We actually fell asleep each night to the sound of crashing waves! Of course Iain brought his board and did some surfing while we were there too. The kids had an absolute blast and were disappointed to have to come home!
The beach was a stairway away from our campsite. It was nice to have a few hours at the beach then walk for less than 3 minutes and be 'home'.

S'mores anyone?

Easter
A few pictures from Easter...
Chubby hands after egg coloring
Silly Iain on Easter morning
Sara was so into finding Easter eggs. They each had 6 to find. We told the boys to leave the easier ones for Sara, that she may take a little longer. I guess we underestimated our little girl! Next thing we knew, she had all 6 eggs, before the boys!!!
Lovin' his new Transformer. Thank you Easter Bunny!
In full swing
We are in the midst of baseball season here. I was a bit reluctant to get back into the swing of things. Free Saturdays are so nice, it's hard to give them up. It only took about 2 minutes into the first game to remember how much I love it! I love the games but most of all, I love watching my kids play ball!
Iain is on the Giants. He's becoming a very good player, it's fun to watch. He's been playing first base and catcher often, he prefers catcher though. Of course I have to throw in a bit of bragging! During his second game, he hit a double! It was his first even , he was beyond thrilled!!
Sean is enjoying his team this year also. His best buddy is on the team as well as a neighbor that lives in our street. They are cute as can be. Go Red Sox!
Here are a few spectator pictures. The kids enjoy watching each other play. Sara stands at the backstop yelling "Go Iain" or "Go Bubba" at the top of her lungs. It's very sweet!

Knock Knock
A few days ago as Sara and I were driving home from dropping Sean off at school, I heard a little voice say "knock knock" from the backseat. I paused not knowing what I was suppose to say. Was Sara just talking to herself? Was she actually telling me a joke? I went along with it just in case, and answered with a hesitant "who's there?". The rest of the conversation went like this:
Sara: "Monkey"
Me: "Monkey who?" (again a bit hesitant)
Sara: "Monkey George"
I was at this point in hysterics! My little girl was telling me a knock knock joke! As soon as we got home I of course tried to video it but to no avail. She was a bit more willing the next day!

Making our way back to health
Sorry for my horrible upkeep of the blog. We've had so much going on it's been hard to find time to get on here. For a health update, Seany had an ear infection last week. It was most likely a secondary to the flu/fever he had a few days prior. We have the infection under control (and the lingering 104 fever is gone thank goodness!) but the all annoying fluid is hanging around. His equilibrium is off and his overall energy level is down, way down. He's so full of life and energy that on days when he asks to stay inside and not play, it's hard for us. We want him feeling good and acting like Seany again!! He does have an appt with the ENT tomorrow so hopefully we'll get some answers. We want the fluid gone!!! On another not so healthy note, Iain has what we think is bronchitis, again another secondary from the flu. The darn cooties just hung around longer than we'd like! He's at the dr. right now, hopefully getting some antibiotics that will knock this thing out! I commented that he looks like he's missing his sparkle. There is just something missing in his eyes! Hope to see his sparkle soon!!
On a happier note, Iain T., Sara and I are all feeling well. Baseball started this past weekend and I of course have lots of pictures. I forgot how much I love watching the kids play sports! They both love baseball and enjoyed their first games. I'll get pictures on here soon (or at least semi-soon). They look adorable in their uniforms! I also have some St. Patty's Day pics from this morning. I'm trying to get a green dinner planned but so far I'm not sure broccoli, peas and salad would be a big hit!!!
In honor of Seany not feeling good here are a few adorable pictures from 4 years ago! Amazing that he's already 5!!

Pinewood Derby
For weeks now, Iain and Iain have been working on a car to race in the Indian Guides Pinewood Derby. The kids build there own car to race against all the other kids. This is not your average car race though. It gets pretty intense, not to mention some dads have actually been caught cheating!!! They have a prize for fastest car and most original. Although they wanted a fast car, the Iain's decided without an engineering degree, most original may be a better goal.
A guitar car!
The car competed in 6 heats, it placed with one 4th place, two 3rd places, two 2nd places and a 1st! Yippee for non-cheaters!! The best prize of all??
He won most original!! We were told it was unanimous!!
Here's a picture of our cute little car winning! Great shot Mr. Photographer!!
In need of a few sweaters
Hey strangers! It's been a long week but here I am! I'm still regaining my energy but other than that, I'm feeling great. I'm obviously a fine sharer though, it's being passed around here like a bowl of Peanut M&M's! Sara only had the fever for one day but she is still holding on to some sinus gunk. Iain T.'s came and went and he's now his peppy little self again. My sweet, dear hubby who nursed me back to health, is not feeling so good. The first sign that he must really be sick, he called a substitute to cover his class today. He does not like calling out sick! I feel bad though, he has it about as bad as I did! I have to laugh, now I know he understands what I was feeling. As wonderful as he was, I did get a few "aha's" when he thought I was just getting a bit much for him. This morning I think he understood what I was feeling! I'm very sorry he's got it but it is nice to feel understood!!! ;-)
This morning Sean, Sara and I took a walk to the park to leave Iain a quiet house. After playing for about an hour Sean said:
"You know when you feel cold when it's not cold out. That means you're a getting a cold. I feel hot, I think I'm getting a sweater."
After a good chuckle we headed home. His temperature was 99, nothing to be concerned about but I'll keep an eye on it! I'm hoping that he's going to be the one to defy the odds with our cooties!
See the blue dot on his nose? That day at school they were playing with the scented markers. Apparently the blueberry one was great!!!

Down and Out in So Cal
Just so you all know we're still alive, I thought I'd update. I have the craziest/nastiest flu ever imaginable. I know they say the flu this year is bad but holy cow. My Dr. called it's Respiratory Influenza...I call it hell! I have turned a small corner today so I can at least sit upright to type this but this is the most activity I've done in days. I sound like a frog, my cough sounds like a seal with smokers cough, and it feels like a monster is trying to climb out of my head! This is all after the 103 fever finally left!! If that doesn't give you a picture of misery this will...Sara woke up with it this afternoon!!! Wish us luck and I'll post again when I have another energy spurt!
EDITED TO ADD: Iain T. came down with it on Saturday! If you live in the area please steer clear of our cootie filled house!
