I have a Wild Hair

Those words give Iain a chill! He usually cringes and pretends to duck for cover when he hears them! To me all it means is that I have a crazy idea. It usually involves going somewhere out of the ordinary or doing something that is not our norm. Last time I declared a Wild Hair, I wanted to take the kids out to dinner on a night when Sara had been 'experimenting with her voice' for most of the day! You get the idea...
My wild hair this time? I have decided to re-organize our whole house, room by room. Not sure when I'm going to have time for this but it sounds like a challenge that I want to take on. I've been searching other blogs and have found some great organizational ones. They give tips, and how to's, so I'm going for it! I'm sure this will be a Wild Hair that Iain will love!! I'll keep you updated on any progress that I make with my new goal!!
For anyone who wants some pictures...here are a few blasts from the past.
Seany with ponytails! Isn't he pretty?

The almost 3 year old, almost naked painter!

Who is this chubby little girl? I can't believe her face was ever that round!!

Fewer cooties more fun

First an update on the kids. They are both feeling better but still not 100%. Sara slept for 14 hours last night! Yes, you read that right, 14 hours!! We put her down at 7:45pm and she woke up at 9:45am this morning! Then to top it off, we woke her up after a 3.5 hour nap today! Apparantly, she needed some sleep!! Her fever has been in the 99's today so getting close to normal, which we're happy about. She is a little croupy but we're hoping with the fever going down it means she'll be feeling better soon! Iain is also getting better but still not quite himself. He just had a look on his face that told us he wasn't feeling great. He asked for a nap today which is also a tell tale sign that he's not feeling well. Luckily he has stayed fever free all day!

On a happier note, last night a neighbor dropped off a few things for Sara. They were getting rid of some things their son doesn't play with anymore and thought of her! I wish I had a picture of her face when she saw them!!! It was a combination of complete surprise and overwhelming joy! Look at this! They gave her an Elmo chair and giant Elmo. I'm not sure if I've discussed her addiction on this blog. Sara has a serious Elmo addiction! She loves everything with his face on it. Pillows, clothes, dolls, dvd's...you name it, she loves it! I'm sure that to her, these gifts were a dream come true! She sat in the chair for a good 10 minutes before she got up!
Posing with Iain!

The kids being silly! Notice she's still in the chair! She was happy to pose with her brothers but was not ready to get up or share!

This afternoon when Iain was feeling a sudden burst of energy, he decided he wanted to get the ramps out. We figured he is old enough to make decisions like that, to decide if he felt up to it or not! He did well for about 30 minutes, then decided to stop! Look what he was doing......teaching himself to do jumps off the ramp! He wants to learn the jumps so he can do stairs at the skate park! (You can see the stairs that he's striving for in two of the pictures from yesterday's post. The kids get speed then jump in the air over the stairs, land on their boards and keep skating!! ) I'm amazed at his determination to skateboarding. So far, it has been the one thing that he goes back to time and time again. How is he getting so big?

Cooties Update

Well, we still have cooties!

Here's an update on the kiddos! Sara peaked with a 103.5 fever last night but seems to be a little better today. Her temp is still hovering between 101 - 102 but her mood is definitely improved! Still refusing food but I guess with a fever that is to be expected. Iain T. seems to heading in the right direction. The fever never came back after last night. He does have a cough and sounds congested though. We can just tell by his attitude that he's not feeling great. He didn't want to play outside today, was more interested in laying around. That's a big sign for him! He's more of an outside guy!! Seany is still hanging in there! He was the first to get a cold but his went away quickly and he seems to be feeling great! Our neighbors also have one child with this bug (we share!!!). The dad took their daughter and Sean to the movies today to get them out of the house! It was a nice break for him since he was full of energy and ready to get out of here for a bit. Then after nap (for Sara and Daddy) we headed to Nanny and Grandad's (Iain's parents) for a change of scenery! They're on vacation so it sounded like a safe place to go to stare at different walls while not infecting anyone! We're now back home and getting the kiddos ready for bed.

Send us some healthy vibes please and we'll see what tomorrow brings!!

Finally, skating

This morning Iain and the boys went to a local skate park with some neighbors. The boys had never been and the anticipation of it was almost too much to bare! Iain T. of course was talking non-stop about the what if's involved. "What if I fall down, Mom?" "What if I go down the biggest hill and don't fall down, Mom?" "What if I see Tony Hawk, Mom?" So cute! One thing about Iain is that he's verbal!! From the moment he started talking, it's been non-stop! When he's excited, he talks. When he's scared, he talks! When he's tired, he talks! Sean on the other hand just walked around with a huge smile and patiently waited to leave. He had his skateboard, Razor (just in case it was too scary to use the board) and knee/elbow pads all lined up ready to go. They did have a great time! The three of them (yep, hubby included) are already talking about the next time they go!!! Sean ended up using his board and scooter! He started on the scooter but was soon trying it all on his skateboard!! Unfortunately, we didn't get pictures of him on the board!

A few hours after they got back, Sara woke up from her nap with a 101.6 temp! Yikes! She doesn't have any other symptoms, but is just laying around wanting to watch Elmo! She was all cozied up with mi-mi (pacifier) and woobies (blankets) looking cute as can be! The fever crept up to 102, so we gave in to the Motrin. She must've felt better because as soon as the fever went down, she was asking to eat.

Side note - Just as I was getting ready to post this, Iain T. came in crying that he was cold. Cold?? Huh?? Did I mention the heat wave we've been having? My first reaction was to take his temperature. Yep, you guessed it...but at least it's not high. It was only about 100 degrees. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come! I'll keep you posted!

Singing away the day

At 19 months, Sara is trying out so many new things. One day she will use the word "no" 50 times, even when she means yes! Other days will be filled with her budding independence, with her wanting to do everything herself. No matter what the day brings, one thing is consistent...everyday involves singing! I'm not talking about a little humming either, I'm talking about full fledged belting out the words. Her head goes back, her mouth opens and she sings...loud!! Of course there is also dancing involved. Her hips sway from side to side and her arms wave around! I have to say it is one of the cutest things imaginable!!

These first two pictures (above) were taken this morning while she was playing and singing! The second two (below) are from this morning also, our little dancing queen! Even snack time is a great time to groove! When you click on this picture you can see all the crumbs she left around the room! How special!!
I have to add this next picture too. I've been carrying the camera around trying to get more pictures for the blog (trying to accomplish my new blog goal). Nothing like a sleepy, waking up, baby face!!

Classrooms, cats in cages and more

This morning Iain went to his classroom to start getting organized for the year. I have to admit this part of the year is probably the most difficult for me. Once we're back in our routine, it's smooth sailing (most days) but the sometimes here and sometimes at school thing throws me for a loop! I much prefer to have him around!! Do you know how much easier parenting is when there are two adults all day, every day?? Guess that will have to wait until we win the lottery. Which will actually be tomorrow so I'll blog all about our winnings another time. Until then, we're back to today!

Anyway, Iain and I have been on a crusade to teach the boys about helping others, helping the environment, giving to charity etc., so today we took some old blankets and towels to the Humane Society. I was telling them how it would help the animals stay warm and cozy in the winter. It went very well, you could tell they were feeling good about what they were doing until we walked into the animal room. Iain plugged his nose, Sean's eyes got really big as he looked around and Sara started barking back at the dogs!! I had brought the camera but being surrounded by caged animals just didn't feel like an appropriate moment to start snapping pictures!! We were all equally ready to get out of there ASAP!! O'well!!

Completely unrelated, here is a picture from today. Sara wanted to see what would happen when she crawled under her slide. She sat there yelling "help"! It was quite cute!!

We're off to the pool. Need a little afternoon swimming to cool us off!

(I can tell this daily idea is going to need more pics! I'll do my best to keep the pictures coming!)

New Blog Goal

I've decided to try a new twist on our little blog. Instead of just updating with exciting things that happen to the kids, I'm going to try and blog daily. Maybe it will be a day of being home bodies but I have a bajillion and one cute pics of the kids laying around and just being silly. I think I want this to be a more day by day account of our Three Kid Circus.

Of course I say this now. Who knows when tonight rolls around and I'm too tired to turn the computer on but hey, it's worth a try right??

Hopefully you will soon be reading this daily and getting a better feel of what our Three Kid Circus is really about!

Wish me luck!!

Happy Birthday Seany Boy Part 2

This post will be detailing the fun that we had to celebrate Sean. As most of you know, every year we let the birthday person chose where they want to go for dinner. They usually pick a local restaurant but Sean chose the beach for a bbq! Sounded great to us! Our plan was to venture down with all the makin's of a great afternoon in the sun and bbq after nap. Since we didn't have any other plans for the day, we also let him chose a place to go for breakfast. I have to say it wasn't the place I would've chosen but they have a 'yummy" kids menu so I can see why he wanted to go there! After eating I asked the waiter (secretly of course) if they could sing Happy Birthday to Sean. He was a little taken back, I guess it isn't a big request at a breakfast place!! Anyway, they did come and sing and brought him an ice cream sundae!! I had to laugh since it was 10:00am but what the heck!!!

He looks pretty pleased to be eating ice cream in the morning!

Funny faces with Daddy!

A few hours later it was on to the beach. The kids played in the water for hours before eating some dinner and roasting marshmallows! Then it was on to football and soccer in the sand!

Putting together his s'more!

Blowing out his candle (in the s'more)

The day was a success! Sean had a great time doing what he wanted to do! He was so tired that he was almost asleep when we got home from the beach, and it's only a 5 minute drive!!! Happy Birthday Buddy!

Happy Birthday Seany Boy! Part 1

Wow, our little guy is 5! It's so hard to believe how fast these past few years have gone! He's gone from a little (alright not so little) bundle of love to a bigger bundle of love! He is just the sweetest little boy!

When he woke up on his birthday, he came into our room (we were still asleep since he still wakes up before the chickens) and told us he felt 'stretchy'! He said he thinks he stretched while he was sleeping and grew taller! He then stood very tall and asked if he looked bigger! Funny that both boys made similar comments on their birthdays!!

On to the five years of Seany pictures! Happy Birthday Seany Boy!!

The day he was born! 9lbs 3 oz !First birthday!
This is also his first birthday and first cake!

Waving to his fans on his second birthday! His third birthday at the beach!
Going up Mammoth Mountain in a gondola on his 4th birthday!

The best pictures from his 5th bday aren't on my camera! I'll get them downloaded as soon as I can. Until then you'll just get the first four birthdays!!!

More water pics (lots and lots)

I know that I just posted about swimming yesterday but I have a few more pictures that are worthy of posting. Tonight after dinner we took the kids swimming for a bit. It was hilarious! Iain was throwing them in, Sara was swimming and jumping in and the boys were being so silly! Here are a few pictures...

A quick tickle from Daddy before they jump in!

1-2-3 JUMP!

A jumping dive!A dive camouflaged as a belly flop!

This is the Torpedo that I was talking about in the last post. You let her go under the water and she takes off. Feet kicking and arms movin'!

Plain silliness!

Busy times = fun pictures

Just a few pictures of the kids having some fun!
My two favorite Dodgers!
Iain made this Monster to be submitted to a Lego Magazine! He's giggling about the whole thing.
A very wet Sara holding sand crabs! We'd dig them up and she loved holding them!

Has anyone seen the black Fear Factor popsicles? Sean has!!!

Yes, he does come up! The leg belongs to Iain after flying off the wave! He's quite a daredevil!

This was her first time in the ocean. She loved it!! Lots of laughs when being pulled, very quickly, around the sand on a boogie board!

We've been making all kinds of paper airplanes lately to find a fast, long distance flier for an Indian Guide competition! Not quite sure why it's in his mouth though!
