The last week of summer. Wow! I'm not sure where the time has gone, but we've had lots of fun! There is still fun to be had too! Tonight I'm just sharing some cute pics from some fun over the past few days.

A few more birthday activities Part 2

And the birthday continues...

We have a household rule that the kids don't get birthday parties every year. They of course have the family ones, but not a big one with 20 of their closest friends. Instead they can chose to go somewhere with a friend. Iain chose Dave and Busters, and this time around Sean chose an Angel Game. We asked Sean where he wanted to sit and he said by Vladimir Guerrero. So that's where we sat. We were able to get seats right by him!

Watching from the wall. You can really get pretty close to the players. Can you tell he was having fun?The one we went to see, "Big Daddy Vlad-y"I think the ice cream sandwich was bigger than his head!Iain and cousin Sebastian Me and my birthday boy

A few more birthday activities Part 1

Of course Sean's birthday festivities did not end at a lunchtime bbq! We also had a special dinner and an Angel game to go to. Here are some pics from dinner...

Sean chose the Rainforest Cafe for dinner. Not my favorite restaurant, not even my 10th favorite restaurant but then it wasn't my birthday! I will admit that the atmosphere is fun! They have a balloon animal maker (is that what they are called?) that makes creations for the kids. Sean and Iain chose light sabors and jedi hats!

Sara chose a purple Butterfly WandNot sure how they knew it was Sean's birthday. Maybe a little birdy told them!! (wink-wink)

Wonder what he wished for?

Wax on - Wax off

Look what Iain T. bought last week! I was out doing errands and when I came home he was standing in the garage holding this...

I knew the day was coming but was still shocked to see him holding his very first board. We had worked out a deal that if he came up with half of the money, we'd pay the other half. He saved and saved until he came up with half. All his birthday money, any money earned from chores, it all went towards the board! While I was out, Iain and Iain went shopping and found the perfect board!
Every new surfboard needs to be waxed!

The following morning the board was taken out on it's maiden voyage. Iain was very pleased to announce that he stood up several times but that it was much different than what he's use to. He has since gotten use to it and is in love!

Camping Adventure #2 - The Drive Home

After we packed up, which took several hours, we headed home. It was a 2 hour drive back home and the kids were exhausted. We made a quick pit-stop for food then hit the road. We put Sara's lunch in a bag so it would easier for her to eat, and not spill all over the car.

Here she is 5 minutes after we gave it to her, clutching her bag of food! She hadn't even take one bite.

An hour later. The grasp has loosened a bit 30 minutes after we got home. The bag fell to the floor but she was still asleep. We unpacked the car and she slept through the entire thing.

Camping Adventure #2 (lots of pictures)

I'm so far behind on blogging. The pictures that I want to share are climbing in numbers. I could just post some of the cute ones but I'd like to share cute little stories to go with them.

We had a wonderful time on our last camping trip. It was much different than the first one. This time we rented a trailer, went with two other families and visited a water park for 2 of the days. As my sister put it, "it was hotel price with camping ambiance". When we got there, the trailer was all set up, with air conditioning on and all. And the size...I make jokes that it was almost bigger than our house, which is of course an exaggeration but it was quite big.

Sara was the first one to run in and check out the trailer. This is her seal of approval face.
Hide-away bunk beds that the boys slept in. Sean got the top since Iain has the top at home. (We had a bed rail on to avoid any late night rolling!!)
The kids waking me up the first morning. I'm the lone arm you see in the pile of cute sleepy faces! Eating lunch in the trailer At the waterparkSleepy girl being silly with socks
On the final morning as we were packing up, we put the two little ones into our trailer. We figured they could run around and play while we packed the cars, without having to worry about where they were. This is where we found them...

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY SEANY!!!
What a great date for a birthday!

Sean chose to go to the last day of VBS today. I was leaning toward him staying home and having fun with me but I was reminded by several people that it was his birthday, not mine. Yea, yea, yea!! Anyway, he did go and we also stayed for the BBQ afterwards.

Here's a classic Iain (hubby) story for you. (Before I even start I must clarify how mellow this church is. It's a total shorts and t-shirt place.) When we arrived to pick him up, in shorts and t-shirts of course, the kids were still in the chapel singing. We were told to go on in and enjoy the singing/slide show. We filed into the back with the rest of the parents. Right when the singing ended, there was about a 5 second period of silence. It wasn't a 'moment of silence', more of a lull before the next activity. My hubby shouts out "Happy Birthday Sean"! Then one by one people start saying 'Happy Birthday Sean', over and over. It was cute! Gotta love that he took an opportunity of quiet to announce Sean's birthday! As you can tell from my posts, we are big on being loud when it comes to the kids. I try not to completely embarrass them but attention is good!!!

(Like his fat lip? He collided with a kid at VBS the other day)

Happy birthday to the bestest, coolest, silliest, most lovablest 6 year old in the world! We love you Sean!

Freedom to collect

Our sweet little girl is a collector. She likes to hold any and all small things she can get her cute little hands on. She carries them in baskets, purses, boxes, any thing that will hold her treasures. Nap time is apparently no different. Today she chose to sleep on her big girl bed again. ( I have to laugh even typing that. It's a mattress laying in the middle of her room on the floor!) Anyway, she did fall asleep but when I went to check on her I could EASILY tell she had explored a bit. These are the goodies that I found in bed with her...all the makings for a good nap I guess!

Go ahead and click on the picture to get a closer look. Four dolls, two corn on the cobs, a hot dog, four bracelets, a butterfly net...

(**Side note, she did pretty well last night in the "bed". She woke up at about midnight asking to go back into her crib. I of course put her back in and she slept until 8:30 this morning.**)

Success

Bed shopping for Sara was a success. After looking through what felt like 50 kajillion furniture stores we found one we really liked. We were looking for something simple, not too ornate or 'girlie'. This is what we picked out... http://www.easylifefurniture.com/kids/kids2_lr.html (Just the bed not the rest of the furniture and it's in white.)

The bed won't arrive for about 4 wks, which will actually give me time to re-decorate the room. We chose a duvet cover that we're using as the 'inspiration' for the rest of the room. http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/gd130/popup.cfm?tool=vLarger&pkey=cgirls-duvet-coversk

I have a vision of what I think the room will look like. Cross your fingers that the end result looks somewhere near what I'm hoping!!

Even though we don't have the bed yet, we do have the mattress. Sara asked to nap on it the first day. I'm not willing to get rid of the crib yet, so it's right in the middle of her floor! I rubbed her head for a few minutes and voila...
Tonight she again said she wanted to sleep on it. I was a bit nervous trying at night, at the same time I didn't want to discourage her so we went for it. I put a cozy SpongeBob sheet on to make the mattress look as enticing as possible. She curled right up. I again did a few minutes of head rubbing but left her awake. Here she is 10 minutes later!
Night-night sweet pea!
