Girls Gone Wild!

This was our first official Girl Weekend. A few weeks back we had Girl Night while the boys were away for Indian Guides but this was our first full 3 days together. We started it with a very long play date on Friday. It started with some swimming at 3:00pm and ended at about 9:00pm! The girls were having so much fun that we didn't want to end it! Since that ran long, our morning started late. I went into Sara's room Saturday morning to peek and the door creaked and woke her up! Whoops! The only saving grace was that it was already 8:45am! Yes, she sleeps in...unlike two sweet little boys that I know! After laying around for the rest of the morning we ventured off for nails, shopping and lunch! We did play at home for the rest of the day. Didn't want to go TOO overboard!

I have to say 'nails' was my favorite part of Saturday. She was a bit frightened walking in, but once she picked out the colors she wanted...boom, the shyness was long gone! She was chatting with the ladies, grinning from ear to ear! She was even telling them which fingers to paint which color. She knew EXACTLY what she wanted! Here's the finished product.

Our shopping on Saturday wasn't as successful as we had hoped so today was take 2. We wanted to pick out one more small thing for Father's Day but just couldn't find the one thing we wanted. We found it! Yes, I know today is Father's Day but the boys didn't get back until later in the afternoon so it allowed for our procrastination! ;-) That leads me to picking up the kiddos. After a small early afternoon rest, we were off to pick them up. It's always such a joy to see their tired, windblown faces when they get off the boat. They light up when they see Sara and I...and Sara goes running to them! Love it!

Nueve

Happy belated birthday to Iain! I feel bad that I haven't gotten around to posting about his birthday but the busyness factor has been kicked up a notch. So...
Happy 9th Birthday Iain!
The weekend before his birthday, he had a party with some friends at school. We made a conscious effort to only include his friends. In the past we have made big events with everyone. He is growing up and his friends are now such an important part of his life. We wanted his day to be about that. His friends, that are his age making a big deal for him! They had a blast! :-)

On his actual birthday, we hung around the house. He wanted to go to the beach but the weather didn't quite cooperate. So plan b consisted of practicing baseball and swimming, then walking to dinner. It was a great family day! He, of course, has been showered with lots of thoughtful and generous gifts.
I was asked if I can believe he is 9 already. Funny thing is, I can! Don't get me wrong, the last nine years have flown by. It's amazing to me that 9 years have already gone by but at the same time, he seems to be entering the 'big kid' era. Where the kids use to be "the boys and Sara" it now seems to be "Iain and the little ones". Iain has gone through some sort of maturity spurt where he is not a little guy anymore. His interests have changed. Where does the time go? He is such an amazing kid, we are truly blessed!
A good morning birthday kiss!
We love you Iain!
Happy Birthday Buddy!
