The boys have been in limbo all week about Indian Guides Winter Camp this weekend. Would they go? Not? The camp is about an hour and a half away in the local mountains. The town they stay in has had over 5 feet of snowfall in the past 72 hours. Yesterday the emails started rolling in. It was cancelled, hour later back on, hour later...you get the picture. The back roads up the mountain are open but the main concern was that the big trucks wouldn't be able to get to the camp to deliver food for the boys. Last night as we went to bed it was back on. When we woke up this morning it was officially cancelled. The dads all went into overdrive to find a cabin that could accommodate the 'tribe'. They found one by 9:00am. They all jumped in their cars, picked up all the kids from school and started their adventure.
The drive up there usually takes 2 hours. The last I heard they were 3 1/2 hours into the drive and only about half way there! The roads are crazy! It's slowing them down. As the mom at home, slowing them down is fine with me! The slower, the better on snowy roads!!
UPDATE: just got a call that they arrived safely. 4 1/2 hours.
With all that happening, Sara and I are beginning our Girl's Weekend! I picked her up from school and we've been drawing and making bracelets ever since.
Me through Sara's eyes.
The front and back of one of Sara's drawing from today. If you click it larger you will see: a very large flower, a person, the sun, grass and sky.
Picking out her favorite beads.
