On a Mission...

...to the Mission. One of the staples of 4th grade is the California Mission Report. I remember doing it many, many moons ago. Here we are now doing it with Iain. He chose Mission San Luis Rey which is about an hour from our house. With our crazy, crazy schedule right now, there was only one weekend day we had to go visit. As Mother Nature would have it, it poured! O'well, on we went! Getting pictures proved to be a bit difficult. We had to make sure we were under an awning at all times.

The grounds were beautiful! We all learned a lot about the Mission and it's history. We all agreed the cemetery was BEYOND creepy. I'm not a big fan of any cemetery (is anyone??) but this one was just...ICK!! We all got an uneasy feeling and were very willing to move on to the next site!

Once the rain passed...View of Church and Cemetery Door

Close up of Cemetery Door. The architecture was amazing
The only original structure still standing since it was founded in 1802. (bet you didn't know you would get a history lesson too)
